Safari a total memory hog

Safari is most likely the biggest memory hog on my Mac. I finally got fed up with it using nearly 1 gig of memory and I’m switching to Google Chrome until Apple fixes this problem.
Apple developers that may happen to read this blog, you have the best browser available, in my opinion, but this memory issue makes me want to never use Safari again and just use Chrome and if I just start using Chrome, Open Office and other open source apps exclusively, like I did at one time instead of your “it just works” products, I might as well go back to buying an HP or a Lenovo laptop and install Linux on it instead of paying for your machines. Please fix these memory issues in Safari and your other products, they don’t need to be that memory heavy!

Google you have doing a wonderful job with Chrome. I use it on both Linux and Mac; I love how there is almost no difference in interface and that it sync’s my bookmarks with my existing google account.
